About

Howdy!

For some reason of fate, you’ve found my about page for a new project of mine and an interesting opportunity I’m exploring in a Massively Open Online Course (MOOC).  This MOOC (http://change.mooc.ca/ ) titled: Change: Education, Learning, and Technology could be about a lot of different things.  I say “could” because I’m not sure what it will be, or be about.

Anyway, enough about that for now, this is an about me page right?  Well, my name is Aaron Mueller.  I am a Teacher, and more specifically, an Distance Learning Educator, or online teacher as some have called me.  I work for a public school district, the Vancouver School Board, at a school called the “Vancouver Learning Network“.  I have created and taught all the secondary English courses at the school at some point during the last 7 years.  I am also the school’s E-Librarian, or Cybrarian, as I run the digital library to help serve the information literacy and resource needs for over 7000 unique students.

I grew up outside of Vancouver, on a small gulf island named Bowen.  I had to take a ferry everyday to go to high school.  I went to a bigger island for university, over in Victoria, but came back for a short stint at BC Hydro.  I went to UBC for my B.Ed(2003) and MET(2010), and completed all the course work for a teacher-librarian diploma from UBC, but did not cash it in *(long story).

I am a scout leader in Burnaby, and an avid Frolfer.  I love hiking, camping, sailing, and recently, skiing! Most recent books I’ve read are the Dark Tower series by Stepehen King (all seven!) and have just finished the first book in the Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a little bit more about me!  You can also follow me on twitter: @aaronmueller
